A Liverpool sensation's cousin could be heading to Liverpool.
It's quite clear Liverpool are moving into a new era, with Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards slowly putting their plans into action.
Last summer felt like the first real glimpse of that plan. Instead of focusing on quick fixes or plugging gaps in the squad, Liverpool seemed to be thinking much further ahead. The club wasn't just building for the next season or two - it was starting to lay the foundations for long-term success.
That naturally meant saying goodbye to some familiar faces. Several players who played huge roles during the Jurgen Klopp years moved on, bringing an end to a cycle that delivered some incredible memories, from title races and cup triumphs to European glory.
Replacing a generation like that was never going to be straightforward.
Players of that quality don't come around often, and Liverpool were always going to need time to refresh the squad. But rather than trying to recreate the past, the club's recruitment team appear focused on building something new. The same has happened again this summer.
One thing that stands out immediately is the age profile of Liverpool's targets. The focus has clearly shifted towards younger players with high ceilings and plenty of room for development.
The idea seems to be creating a squad that can grow together over the next five, six or even seven years, rather than constantly needing major changes every transfer window.
It's a strategy that requires patience, but it also makes a lot of sense. Liverpool are trying to build a team that can compete at the highest level for years to come, not just one that can challenge in the short term.
Judging by the players they've targeted so far, Hughes and Edwards are fully committed to that long-term vision.
And these radical changes are not just going to take place at first-team level. Part of Hughes' and Edwards' vision is to set Liverpool up for the long-term success.
That means heavily investing in the club's future. Which means reinforcing Liverpool's academy as well as its first-team.
And that is exactly what's happening this summer. More so than last summer when we saw a few players arrive like Armin Pecsi and Will Wright.
This summer though, the investment is increasing. Liverpool have already signed Samuel Martinez. They are also going to sign Ifeanyi Ndukwe and are closing in on the signings of Dara Jikiemi, Xavier Parker, Zack Trinder and Josh Chigwada.
The latter is a Scottish U16 international who captains his country, the former trio are all England youth internationals who are regarded as some of the best in their age-groups.
Never before have Liverpool invested so radically in the U18 team, Jikiemi, Parker, Trinder and Chigwada will all likely come in and play a role for the Reds' young team and completely transform the side.
And that investment won't end there. Joshua Holme of Shamrock Rovers is also of interest to Liverpool.
What makes this move so intriguing is that his cousin Haydn Murray-Holme already plays for the club and he is regarded as a bit of a sensation. Murray-Holme is one of the best young players at the club's academy.
Joshua is also highly regarded having caught the eye at Shamrock Rovers and it looks like there is a chance he could end-up playing for the same club as his cousin.
What a story that would be.
