Alexander Isak will return to team training at Liverpool tomorrow (Thursday), head coach Arne Slot has confirmed.
Isak hasn't played since December 20 when he broke his leg after a challenge from Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven in the Reds' 2-1 win in north London.
The £125m striker opened the scoring after being introduced in the second half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but was caught late by Van de Ven when finding the net.
Isak underwent surgery to correct the issue in the days that followed and, after nearly four months on the sidelines, he will step up his recovery further tomorrow when Liverpool's international contingent return to the AXA Training Centre.
It means the former Newcastle United striker could be in contention for a spot on the bench when the Reds visit Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday lunchtime.
"I think Alex is in a really good place because Sweden qualified for the World Cup yesterday evening and apart from that he's going to train with the group again for the first time tomorrow," Slot told Liverpoolfc.com.
"If you've worked so hard for three, four months or something like that and then to return to team training, that's for everyone very nice. So Alex is, in that sense, in a good place.
"Of course it's only his first session, after three or four months [out], with the team but it's good to have him back because we all know who we signed and we've signed an incredible striker.
"So to have him again in a team that's usually generating quite a lot chances – and maybe not immediately from the first moment that he can start – but to have him back for the last two months is, I think, very helpful for us."
Slot has also confirmed that Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa should be available for the clash with City.
Salah missed the 2-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break with a muscle injury while fellow forward Chiesa withdrew from Italy's squad.
However, goalkeeper Alisson Becker remains sidelined and Slot revealed that right-back Jeremie Frimpong will undergo a scan today (Wednesday) after he came off in the Netherlands' draw with Ecuador on Tuesday night.
