Arne Slot has dismissed questions over his long-term Liverpool future, insisting he remains focused on finishing the campaign strongly, starting with Brighton away on Saturday lunchtime.
The Dutchman will head into the final year of his three-term contract he penned when he joined the club in the summer of 2024 and talks over an extension have gone quiet during a difficult campaign that sees the Premier League holders now fighting it out to finish in the Champions League spots.
Speaking in his Friday morning press conference when pressed on update on his future, Slot said he was simply concentrating on the task ahead rather than negotiations over his own position at Anfield.
"Is this how football works, we win one time (4-0 against Galatasaray on Wednesday) and now we are talking about my contract?" Slot said.
"We didn't win one time by the way, we have won more than everyone thinks in the last one or two months.
"You surprise me with this question because my focus is completely on Brighton. A few days ago, it was more on how we get something more positive from this season.
"Reaching a quarter-final [of the Champions League] is positive and now we have to make more of a step in the league because we don't have the greatest position in the league, so it is going to be a fight and my focus is completely on that.
"We don't talk about the contracts of players here so it would be a surprise if we talk about the manager's."
