Liverpool are already braced for a busy summer and the transfer window isn't even open yet. Mohamed Salah will depart at the end of the campaign, as will his long-serving team-mate Andy Robertson, while further exits could follow with Alisson among the long-serving stars to attract interest.
Discussing Robertson, who will leave after nearly a decade at Anfield, manager Arne Slot said: "He has won everything here, really loves this club, it has been a great nine years at the club. But we saw this season he didn't play as much as he used to and as a result of that he is leaving."
Slot and his squad face a massive test against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. The reigning European champions come to Anfield with Liverpool knowing they must overturn a two-goal deficit to preserve their only remaining chance of glory this season.
The Reds manager has found himself under scrutiny less than a year after lifting the Premier League title, yet not everybody has turned against him. Here's the very latest on Slot and his squad.
Salah and Robertson may not be the sole members of Jurgen Klopp's 2019/20 title-winning squad to depart Liverpool this summer. According to reports emerging from Italy, Juventus are eager to lure goalkeeper Alisson back to Serie A.
Luciano Spalletti, Juve's manager, previously took charge of Alisson at Roma. The former Italy boss returned to the dugout last October with his side seventh in the table but now has an opportunity to guide them back into the Champions League and pave the way for some statement signings.
A new goalkeeper is understood to be high on the manager's wish list, with neither Michele Di Gregorio nor Mattia Perin doing enough yet to suggest they'll be the starting stopper next term. At the other end, Tottenham striker Randal Kolo Muani is another target following an impressive loan spell in Turin before his stint in London.
Marino Pusic, who worked as Arne Slot's assistant at both AZ and Feyenoord, has defended the beleaguered Liverpool manager. The 54-year-old declined the opportunity to accompany Slot to Anfield in 2024, having taken up management opportunities of his own.
"I think Arne deserves much more credit at Liverpool right now than he is getting," Pusic told Voetbal International. "Many people forget how frequently Liverpool has become champion of England in recent decades. Arne did it right away in his first season, but Jürgen Klopp has also only won the Premier League title once.
"Before that, Liverpool last won the league title in 1990. And now it is expected that Arne will win the title twice in a row. Especially because so much money has been spent. That doesn't always work."
