Liverpool failed to win the Premier League for the third straight game on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion, seeing their grip on the Champions League places loosen. The defeat leaves the Reds fifth in the league, six points off Manchester United in third.
Danny Welbeck scored both goals for the hosts, inbetween Milos Kerkez's second goal for the club. Liverpool had to play over 90 minutes without Hugo Ekitike after the striker was forced off early on.
With Chelsea and Aston Villa still to play this weekend, the Reds could drop to sixth in the Premier League. The Blues take on Everton on Saturday evening while Villa face West Ham on Sunday.
