The house that former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp lived in is still on the market, despite having its price reduced. The legendary German is set to return to Anfield this weekend to take charge of the Reds in a legends clash with his former club, Borussia Dortmund.
His old residence in Formby, however, is still as he left it. The luxury mansion is a stunning six-bedroom abode located in the picturesque area of Freshfield. It was originally on sale for £4.25million but that price has now dropped to £4m, with still no buyers in sight.
Situated in what is known as 'Millionaire's Row', Liverpool have been associated with the property for over two decades, with the house having a legacy of homing ex-players and coaches.
Former manager Brendan Rodgers was a previous tenant, with legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard moving into the house in 2005. However, current Reds boss Arne Slot declined to stay in the property, which forced Liverpool to put the house up for sale.
The expansive piece of real estate features seven bathrooms, a swimming pool complex with a shower and sauna and four reception rooms. It also boasts a breathtaking separate entertainment building with a spa and a gym on the first floor.
With the mansion on sale, property agent William Goulden previously said: "This is an exceptional home in a beautiful part of the country. Many will be aware of the property's recent history."
Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister also told the BBC that the residence is one of the website's most viewed properties in 2024.
"From a luxurious former football manager’s [Klopp] residence to a historic Grade I listed abbey, the most viewed homes of the year reflect the wide-ranging dreams of home-hunters this year across Britain," he said.
Klopp left the Reds in May 2024 after initially announcing his departure in a bombshell statement five months prior. He won nine major trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League, after being installed as manager in October 2015.
His replacement, Slot, enjoyed a stunning inaugural season with Liverpool, winning the club's 20th top-flight title. This season has not gone according to plan, however. The Dutchman is under intense pressure due to Liverpool's inconsistent form, which has left them battling for a top-four spot.
Klopp took up a job as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group in January 2025, but continues to be heavily linked with jobs at clubs such as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
However, he hasn't ruled out a return to Liverpool, claiming he would never manage another team in England but the Reds. When quizzed last year about whether he'd ever take up the Anfield hot seat again, Klopp said: "I said I will never coach a different team in England, so that means, if [I did return], then it's Liverpool. So, yeah, theoretically it is possible."
Should Liverpool elect to part ways with Slot this summer, Klopp would no doubt be under consideration for a return. One imagines that his readjustment to life on Merseyside wouldn't be so difficult, after all, his old house is still available.
