Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly remain without Bradley Barcola for at least the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool. The winger sprained his right ankle in their last 16 second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Barcola, 23, limped off just before the hour mark after scoring their second goal in the 3-0 win. That was his second goal across the two games, having opened the scoring in Paris a week earlier inside 10 minutes.
The France international scored in four consecutive games before being sidelined. Now, after missing PSG's last two league fixtures, Barcola is back training.
RMC Sport, though, reports that Barcola will miss the first leg against Liverpool. Luis Enrique has since said: "It's up to him to say when he's ready."
The head coach explained: "He's lacking a little bit of confidence, and we're looking for the best conditions for the players."
Enrique also all but ruled out Fabian Ruiz. He said: "We have to wait for the player; there's no problem. We're trying to get the players back as soon as possible. We're still focused on giving the player confidence."
Liverpool have reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals where they face Paris Saint-Germain on April 8. Fans can watch the game on Prime Video's TNT Sports channel.
The head coach then clarified that "Fabian hasn't trained with the group yet. He's made a lot of progress, and we're happy because he seems to be on the right track, but he still needs to do a little more." Vitinha also spoke about Ruiz, who has not played since mid-January due to a knee injury.
Warren Zaire-Emery has moved back into midfield from right-back to deputise for the Spain international. "They are two different players who do different things," Vitinha said.
"We adapt to that, but we have already shown that when someone is not there, the team takes responsibility, wins the match and responds. We have to adjust to different ways of playing."
Booking.com provides countless deals on flights and accommodation across Europe so Liverpool fans can follow the team to Turkey for their Champions League tie with Galatasaray.
Those comments come after a medical update the club shared on Tuesday. It read: "Bradley Barcola has rejoined group training and is continuing his recovery work."
On Ruiz, they detailed that he "continues his individual work". The update also said that Quentin Ndjantou "continues his treatment protocol".
The 18-year-old forward has not featured since coming off at half-time of their French Cup fifth-round tie against Fontenay in mid-December. Ndjantou made 16 appearances, all but five of which were as a substitute, in the first half of the season before hurting his hamstring.
Slot is poised to confirm Liverpool's team news in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening.
