The 2025/26 campaign has not unfolded as Liverpool had hoped, yet Arne Slot remains determined to retain as much of his squad as possible. On that front, supporters have two particularly compelling developments to consider as the week gets underway.
The Reds are riding high following Sunday's Merseyside derby victory over Everton. Virgil van Dijk's last-gasp winner marked a memorable beginning to the Hill Dickinson Stadium era in this fixture, keeping Liverpool's prospects of a top-five Premier League finish firmly on course.
As the summer approaches, attention will gradually turn to next season's ambitions and how best to rekindle the squad's title-challenging credentials. The ECHO rounds up the latest news from around Anfield as the Merseysiders target a strong run to the finish line.
The latest update on Dominik Szoboszlai's future could be interpreted in a number of different ways. The former RB Leipzig midfielder, who is among the frontrunners to be named Liverpool's Player of the Season, has revealed neither he nor the club have taken any meaningful steps towards agreeing a contract extension.
Szoboszlai, 25, has a deal set to run out in just two years' time. With Real Madrid reportedly admirers of the midfield orchestrator, Liverpool would be well advised to secure his commitment sooner rather than later.
The alternative is to risk a repeat of last season's drawn-out saga that concluded with Trent Alexander-Arnold joining the Spanish giants on a free before the club forked out £10 million to bring him in early enough to feature at the Club World Cup.
"As I said [several weeks ago], there has been no real progression," said the Hungarian. "So I cannot say anything new about my contract situation. We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that.
"As you guys maybe know, my contract ends in 2028, so I am ready to go every day, every week, and then let's see. Of course I see myself here in the long term, but as I say, it is not really in my hands any more.
Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
"I love being here, as I've said many times. I love the fans and I really like to be here. My family is happy. Let's see. I'm completely relaxed. We have five games to go. Then I am going to rest - a big one, after my international break. Then we will see."
The reassuring element is Szoboszlai's keenness to emphasise just how settled he is at Anfield. Nevertheless, it is around this stage of a player's contract that doubts begin to surface regarding long-term intentions.
Given Real are amongst the limited number of clubs capable of luring talent away from Liverpool's doors, there's reason to remain vigilant over the situation. And after Szoboszlai's significance to the side has increased so dramatically throughout this campaign, many Liverpool supporters will consider securing his future a huge priority.
Just as it appeared all but certain that Ibrahima Konate was set to leave Anfield when his contract runs out this summer, a new development has shifted the momentum entirely. And according to the player himself, director Richard Hughes may bear some responsibility for the fact an agreement had not been reached sooner.
Konate said this week: "My future? To be fair, there are many things people have said but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are close to an agreement.
"I think everyone wished for that for as long as possible, but we are in a good way. For sure there is a big chance I'm here next season. This is what I always wanted.
"I'm waiting to sort the contract but when everything is sorted you will have to ask Richard [Hughes] what I said to him in September, November, and he's going to say something to make everyone quiet."
Supporters were left convinced they spotted Konate and Cody Gakpo filming contract announcement footage after the pair were photographed together on a shoot in Liverpool. Such news would represent an early summer boost for fans eager to see the squad remain intact.
Securing Konate's future will be viewed as shrewd business by many, particularly given that Virgil van Dijk is set to depart when his contract runs out in 2027. Combined with the £55million signing of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes this summer, the Reds' defensive resources are suddenly looking considerably stronger once more.
