There are moments when a club quietly makes its position clear, and Liverpool may have just done exactly that regarding Jordan Henderson.
Mo Salah made an emotional plea for supporters to give the former captain a proper send-off when he returns to Anfield with Brentford, and now the club itself has amplified that message.
By publishing the Egyptian’s comments on its official website, Liverpool have effectively endorsed the idea, even if no formal announcement has been made.
Via Liverpoolfc.com, the club highlighted the forward’s words in full, underlining just how strongly the No.11 feels about the situation.
“Mo Salah explains Anfield wish for Jordan Henderson.”
The piece then reiterated the context around the final-day meeting with Brentford, when Henderson is expected to return to L4 for the first time since his abrupt exit in 2023.
Salah’s message itself left little room for interpretation.
“Last game of the season is against Brentford. People in the city know how much it meant to Hendo also, being here and captain of the club for 12 years.”
“He didn’t get the send-off or farewell he deserved because he left immediately.”
What makes this significant is not just what the Egyptian King said, but the fact the club chose to publish it so prominently.
Liverpool didn’t need to share those comments, but by doing so, they’ve made it clear they’re aligned with the sentiment that something should be done for the former skipper.
Salah went even further in his plea, stressing the importance of Henderson’s role during our most successful modern era.
“Without him and being there in the dressing room, without him we wouldn’t have achieved what we achieved.”
That point has been echoed elsewhere too, with Paul Joyce previously noting how much we’ve missed figures like Henderson and James Milner, while Jamie Carragher has insisted the Sunderland-born midfielder “should still be at Liverpool”.
The reality is Henderson’s exit came too quickly for any proper goodbye, but now, with time having passed and emotions settled, there’s an opportunity to correct that.
With Salah and Andy Robertson also set to say farewell, the final day against Brentford is shaping up to be an emotional occasion, and Liverpool’s decision to share this message suggests they expect, and perhaps hope, that supporters respond in kind.

Strange how things work out you could call it fate that the last game of the season is brentford and Henderson returns to Anfield. And the departure of Salah, Robertson and Alisson.
Henderson never had the credit he deserved for what he did at Liverpool. He was a good captain and a leader his work rate was exceptional and he deserves a proper send off by the kop. You could also say as it’s almost complete, most of the team great Liverpool team klopp built will be gone. Only van dijk left.
FSG without klopp are now being found out. We are in terminal decline. Next season will be far worse.
Alison isn’t confirmed as departing yet. Also next season we will be stronger and also a more established squad. Sad to see supposed fans making these comments. Thr players departing are a loss, but we have to look to the future ans stop living in the past!
You seriously believe next season could be worse after the tragic and terrible start we had to this season. You really need to grow some positivity. We will be far better so long as the players we have are allowed to grow. Look how long Szoboszlai has taken to become the player he is today.
I’d suggest he was far beyond a good leader – I’d say he was an outstanding leader. Even opposition players have commented on how great he was. We’ve really missed his leadership – with Trent and Milner gone, Robbo and possibly Ali, going – where is the leadership? Next season will probably be Virgil’s last at the club – then we’re (hopefully) left with Szobo.
Hendo is the most decorated club captain has ever had. He is the only captain in Liverpool’s history to lift the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup. As such he deserves true recognition and a good send off for him last game of the season at Anfield is an ideal opportunity to do just that .
Soboslai was already a good player before coming to liverpool. This slot has done nothing positively to this club. U can see from the team spirit, players he buys, not taking blame for bad games but blame the players and now integrating his style of play to the team see how he is struggling. If Klopps players he bought is finished at Liverpool u will see where the team is. Next season might be worse and Liverpool might be in the middle table. Bring Kloop back to create what he created at Liverpool and let’s get Gerrard in to strictly follow it.
What kind of moron are you? 🤣🤣🤣🥰
You’re having a laugh. Gerrard won in Scotland with only two or three decent teams up there and was sacked at Villa. If he’s not good enough for Villa, he’s definitely not good enough for Liverpool
Funny how someone will still back Slot. How have the players he bought integrated into his style of play? This team has no identity in what they play and represent, whereas Klopp’s signings reflected that. Expect more rubbish next season
The problem is that too many supporters are, like you, mistaken! Slot does not buy players, nor does he have a say in decisions about who leaves. This season there were 8 out and 10 in. Klopp was manager, Slot is merely the coach.
Slot only won because he inherited klopp’s team, let’s not mince words. Also how can he treat a player like Salah like this throughout the whole season? Anyway, Salah, Hendo, Robbo etc… lets give them all a great send-off. Another player that probably didn’t get a great send-off in the past was Sami Hyypia, for me it’s a great pity… for Liverpool: form is temporary, class is permanent. YNWA
Slot, to be perfectly honest, is not the ideal manager for a club like Liverpool. He is a mediocre manager who cannot carry the legacy of the club and that of Klopp in particular. He has destroyed a great team already, he broke the bank and made record signings to end the campaign with no silverware and struggling for the Champions League spot!
It’s better that the management make the right decision before it’s too late.
