Cleveland Cavaliers -17 ana New York Knicks – 13
Knicks starting slow once again , it’s 17-11 Cavs The Cavs lead by six at a TV timeout a little less than halfway through the first quarter, and it appears they’ve recovered emotionally from their Game 1 collapse.
Mobley is already up to 8 points, while Cleveland is easily winning the rebounding battle (7-2) as well.
If you’re wondering why teams give the automatic switch at times, it’s to avoid a 2 on the ball scenario in guard/guard scenarios. Wade screens for Harden to get Brunson in action. He’s in a show and recover, Bridges holds but Wade rolls. Defense helps, Mobley open for 3.
The New York Knicks aim to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference finals, facing the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden tonight.
New York pulled off a historic comeback in Game 1, overcoming a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter en route to a 115-104 overtime win. This marked the second-largest fourth-quarter comeback in the playoffs since 2000 and the largest playoff comeback in Knicks franchise history.
After an impressive Game 1, the Cavs guard does not look completely healthy so far. Richard Jefferson said on the broadcast that he’s lacking his usual burst, and this will certainly be something to watch.

The Cavs big man drills his second three of the game. briefly giving Cleveland an 8-5 lead. The Cavs’ guards will have plenty of space to operate with if he consistently hits that.
Brunson gets in the lane to hit a floater, and Bridges picks off an inbound before KAT nails a three. New York is continuing its momentum from Game 1.
Cavs, as expected, are still allowing Josh Hart to shoot the 3-ball. He’s 0-2 in this one after going 1 for 5 last game. Wouldn’t be surprised if Landry Shamet plays more minutes tonight than Hart if the shooting woes continue.
You can hear Knicks fans getting excited every time Jalen Brunson has the ball with James Harden guarding him. That Game 1 ending has left a mark.
The Knicks are off to a hot start Brunson bucket. Bridges steal.

Q1 10:47 – Knicks 5, Cavaliers 3
New York picks up right where it left off in Game 1!
Brunson bucket, steal, Karl-Anthony Towns 3 for a quick 5-0 start. But Evan Mobley answers with a 3 on the other end for Cleveland, and we’re off and running.
The Knicks win the tip and we’re off at Madison Square Garden
We’re underway for Game 2
It’s so cool to hear Mike Breen welcome us in and call these games from The Garden. Like his predecessor Marv Albert, Breen has gone from Knicks/MSG play-by-play man to an epochal voice of the sport.
I saw the most buzz about his retracted “bang!” on Sam Merrill’s late rim-out, and for his “Brunson burner” call during the Knick captain’s heat check. But the one that has stayed with me is “BEDLAM AT THE GARDEN!” He’s dropped that a few times across his three decades of work, and it hits every time.
John Calipari, current coach at Arkansas and former coach at Kentucky. He coached Karl-Anthony Towns at Kentucky from 2014-15.
No changes to the starting five. But Hart’s minutes will surely be a factor to watch after the Knicks’ late-game run came with him on the bench.
Donovan Mitchell stopped his pre-game shooting to go say what’s up to his college head coach at Louisville and current St. John’s head coach, Rick Pitino.
Kenny Atkinson was content with quality of shots the Knicks got at the end of Game 1 but he also wrestled with process vs. results for Game 2. He called that “the real dilemma in coaching.” I asked him if he’d keep the same coverages on Jalen Brunson. His answer: TBD.
💬 “Everybody can wait and see. And then criticize after.”
We’re edging closer to tip-off now, and the Knicks will be hoping for another productive game from Karl-Anthony Towns. The big man only had 13 points in Game 1 but continues to impress with his passing.
With about 20 minutes until tipoff, fans are still filing into Madison Square Garden as a Chainsmokers-themed laser show begins. There is a complementary light-up bracelet on almost every seat so the Garden looked like a kaleidoscope for a few minutes there.
