Galatasaray have filed an official complaint with UEFA and are considering a legal case for compensation after Noa Lang suffered a freak horror injury in their Champions League defeat at Liverpool.
Lang, who came on as a second-half substitute, required extensive treatment after colliding with an advertising hoarding in front of the Anfield Road Stand in the 76th minute of the 4-0 round of 16 second leg loss, which ensured the Turkish side went out 4-1 on aggregate.
The Dutch forward suffered a serious cut to his thumb after it became caught in a gap between the hoarding and a barrier and, having needed oxygen while leaving the pitch, was sent to hospital where he underwent an operation to repair the damage.
And Galatasaray have now indicated they want to be recompensed for the amount of time Lang now faces on the sidelines recovering from the injury.
Galatasaray's general secretary Eray Yazgan said to Turkish news outlet HTSport: "After the match, we lodged a complaint with UEFA representatives regarding the matter. They conducted their investigation.
"UEFA will evaluate the issue. We are consulting with lawyers. We will submit our compensation claim to UEFA. We will request that our grievances regarding salaries be addressed.
"If our request is not met, a lawsuit may be filed. Our priority is the health of our players."
Following the game, Liverpool and UEFA officials were spotted investigating the advertising hoarding where the incident occurred.
