Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that a return to management could be on the cards in the future, despite stating that he has no plans to return to the dugout. Klopp left his role at Anfield in the summer of 2024 after spending almost nine years as Reds manager.
Klopp was replaced by Arne Slot at Liverpool, who went on to win the Premier League title in his debut season on Merseyside.
Since leaving Liverpool, Klopp has taken the role of the global head of football with Red Bull. His role oversees all of the Red Bull club network, which includes RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls, among others.
However, Klopp has been continuously linked with a return to management, with recent reports suggesting that the Real Madrid job could be an option for the 58-year-old.
Klopp, though, has dismissed the ‘nonsense’ rumours about a potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"If Real Madrid had called, we would have heard about it by now,” Klopp told reporters at the Magenta TV World Cup team presentation being held in Munich. “But that's all nonsense. They didn't even call, not once. They didn't even call my agent."
He added: "I've said that a thousand times already, but of course I'm not thinking about it at all right now. There's no reason to, thankfully.
“And as for the future, I'm not quite finished as a coach yet. So who knows what might come up in the next few years. But there are absolutely no plans in that regard."
The last few weeks has also seen speculation around Klopp’s future at Red Bull and whether or not a departure may be on the cards in the near future, despite the former Liverpool boss only being in the job since January last year.
Klopp, however, dismissed such rumours. "The same idiots wrote that. The less someone knows about football, the more they think: I should be at the various locations even more often than I am.
“The colleague from the 'Salzburger Nachrichten' who wrote that has absolutely no clue. I'm not thinking of throwing in the towel."
Klopp’s comments come just days before he is expected to return to the dugout for Liverpool’s charity match at Anfield this weekend.
The former Reds boss will be part of Sir Kenny Dalglish’s backroom staff as Liverpool Legends face another of his former clubs, Borussia Dortmund, in a charity match on Merseyside on Saturday afternoon.
