Luis Enrique admits his Paris Saint-Germain side were fortunate not to concede against Liverpool as they earned a place in the Champions League semi-final.
Ousmane Dembele scored twice late on to earn the holders a 2-0 win at a soggy Anfield on Tuesday night in their quarter-final second leg and seal a 4-0 aggregate success.
After a tight first half, Liverpool dominated for large periods but were unable to make the most of their opportunities before Dembele's first goal on 72 minutes finished the tie as a contest.
And Enrique said: "It was an important game for us, a top game not just for our fans or Liverpool’s but for all fans. Two really good teams, Liverpool played a fantastic game, a lot of intensity. It was really tight.
"There were a few moments where we had the upper hand. Things got even tougher for us in the second half but we showed what kind of team we are. It was a wonderful Champions League quarter-final.
"Liverpool definitely deserved to score over the course of the game.
"Had we conceded a goal early on it would have been really difficult so you need things to go your way and it is wonderful to have these kind of players in the clubs and the fans as well, their support was extraordinary. We are happy to show them what we are made of."
Enrique added: "Liverpool had to take a lot of risk and that meant we could launch a counter-attack and kill the match off.
"It took longer than I would have liked that to do.
"But we defended well, (Matvey) Safonov was instrumental and we controlled the controllables, but we knew they had to take a risk.
"As soon as we scored the first goal, that changed things.
"Before the game we knew we could find it tough and suffer at times but I think we managed the match really well."
