Mohamed Salah has announced he is leaving Liverpool FC at the end of the season, marking the end of a nine-year stay. But the Egyptian has a strong support system behind him that will help as he makes his next decision.
Posting a message on social media, Salah said: "Hello, everyone. Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season."
Salah has previously spoken about his family’s affection for the club - highlighting that it is a family decision. He married his childhood sweetheart Magi Sadeq in 2013. They grew up in the same Egyptian village together and attended Mohamed Eyad Al-Tantawi School. They regularly return to their homeland during Ramadan, so he can share his wealth with members of his community.
Salah has paid to build a school, a water treatment plant and an ambulance station there, and every month his foundation provides food and money too.
The pair married just before Salah moved from Swiss side Basel to Chelsea. The couple have two daughters together - Makka, who was born in 2014, and Kayan, who was born in 2020.
Salah’s family can be seen regularly at the end of every Liverpool season where he takes them on the pitch after the final game along with the families of his other teammates.
In an interview with the club in 2024, Salah joked his daughters were picking up the Scouse accent. He said: “My kids are Scousers now! Their language is like the accent as well. So, it’s a big change.”
Salah has also previously shared pictures of his mother and father on social media and spoken about the role they played in helping his career.
His sister Rabab Salah has shown support for her sibling throughout his career. One post last year, that featured her brother, saw her comment: "The one and only. Legend", along with an Egyptian flag, crown and heart emojis.
Meanwhile, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa provided the latest on his next move. Abbas Issa confirmed that Salah currently has no club lined up for when he leaves this summer.
Posting on X, he said: "We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows."
The winger has been heavily linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League in recent years and was the target of a £150million offer from Al Ittihad in 2023, which Liverpool turned down.
