Liverpool have a two-goal mountain to climb as they get ready to welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield in the Champions League. The Reds were beaten 2-0 in the first leg in the French capital.
Despite Arne Slot's side returning to winning form in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, focus now shifts to Europe and the Champions League quarter-finals.
Last week, goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia handed PSG a 2-0 lead heading into the second leg on Tuesday. The likes of Mohamed Salah and Rio Ngumoha, who both got on the scoresheet at the weekend, will be looking to help turn the tie around.
Ngumoha has been turning heads with his displays and praise continues to be aimed at the 17-year-old. With such a pivotal Champions League fixture on the horizon, a club legend has called on Slot to make a decisive call, as The ECHO brings you the very latest from Anfield.
Given his impressive performances, former Reds defender Steve Nicol believes teenage sensation Ngumoha should be among the first names on Slot's team sheet for the showdown with PSG. The Scot urged the Dutch boss to hand him a starting berth at the expense of Cody Gakpo. Ngumoha didn't start the first leg.
Nicol said on ESPN FC: "Right now Liverpool are searching for positives and there's no question that Ngumoha is a positive. Absolutely. He scares defenders.
"If you go back to the tried and trusted Gakpo, [Hugo] Ekitike through the middle and Mo on the right then I can guarantee that whoever's playing right-back doesn't mind playing against Gakpo.
"If you play Ngumoha, the full-back number one doesn't know much about Ngumoha, he doesn't want to play against him. The kid's already scored a goal. He's involved in the second goal as well, so there's absolutely no way you shouldn't start Ngumoha on one side.
"Yes, I also think you have to start Salah in this game, particularly because he scored a goal, and then Ekitike should be through the middle."
With Ngumoha appearing set to keep thriving in the Premier League, the club held a Q&A with the young Englishman last week. He presently wears 73, but when questioned about which shirt number he'd potentially like to take in future, Ngumoha responded: "Seventy-three holds a special place in my heart, obviously the first number I received.
"It was just random. But my dream number would be 11. Watching Neymar play for Barcelona and Mo obviously has broken all the records with No.11."
Salah will depart the club at the conclusion of this campaign, potentially making the No. 11 available. Ngumoha also mentioned some guidance that the Egyptian has offered him ahead of his exit.
"One time after training he told me the top, top players, along with your ability they also get goals and assists," said Ngumoha on Salah. "He has broken many records, so him saying that to me and saying he knows I'm a good player but to get to the next level just add the goals and assists [was advice he's given me]."
