To say that many Trabzonspor fans are delighted with the signing of Mo Salah would be quite the understatement.
After nine glorious years at Liverpool during which he won the Premier League twice and accumulated a staggering array of personal records, the Egypt winger has now joined the Turkish Super Lig club, with the transfer officially announced on Wednesday.
The acquisition of the three-time PFA Player of the Year was unsurprisingly greeted with euphoria by supporters of the Karadeniz Fırtınası, who turned out in their droves to welcome him to Trabzon.
Trabzonspor’s official X channel shared footage of Salah’s unveiling at Papara Park, with thousands of fans turning up to raucously welcome the 34-year-old with deafening cheering amid the vivid backdrop of flares and fireworks.
Even the Egyptian – an elite footballer who’s experienced such dizzying highs throughout his glittering career – seemed genuinely awestruck by the reception he was given, with a look of disbelief on his face as he took in the acclaim of the natives.
Additionally, Turkish sports reporter Hasan Tuncel uploaded a clip to X which showed spectacular aerial drone footage of the pyrotechnics which accompanied the unveiling of the Liverpool legend at his new club.

Trabzonspor fans mustn’t be able to believe their luck at bringing in Salah, whose output in his final season at Anfield may have dropped sharply but whose legendary status on Merseyside was underlined by him being voted the fourth-best Reds player of all time in a club poll over the summer.
The winger has signed a two-year deal with the Turkish side, who’ll be participating in the Europa League this season (should they progress past the play-off round), and he represents an extraordinary coup for them.

His choice of destination has been questioned by two ex-Liverpool players in Dean Saunders and Jamie Carragher, both of whom suggested that the Egyptian has sold himself short by going to a team who finished third last season in a domestic league ranked the ninth-best in Europe by UEFA’s coefficient.
However, Salah has more than earned the right to decide which club he wanted to join after leaving Anfield, and by opting for Trazbonspor, he’ll still be playing at a reasonably good level, especially if they were to progress deep into the Europa League knockout rounds.
If he turns out to be even 20% of the player that he was for LFC at his new club, he’ll be regarded with legendary status in Trabzon as well as on Merseyside.
