Liverpool's season of transition could be set to roll into another after Mohamed Salah announced his Anfield departure at the end of the season.
The Reds' talisman will call time on his illustrious nine-year stint on Merseyside following the completion of the current campaign and now reports have emerged suggesting that two of the club's most influential chiefs could also be seeking pastures new.
According to the Independent, the Saudi Pro League is targeting both Liverpool's Sporting Director Richard Hughes and Chief Executive Michael Edwards in a brutal double swoop.
The ECHO understands Liverpool have received no approach from Saudi Arabia regards the availability of Hughes.
The report also claims that despite the Reds' failure to muster anything close to a decent Premier League title defence, with 10 league defeats during the campaign already, and qualification for next season's Champions League in the balance, there are no plans to replace Arne Slot as the club's head coach.
Former Bournemouth supremo Hughes joined Liverpool in 2024, following the departure of Jurgen Klopp and after a successful first season with Slot in the dugout, oversaw the capture of record signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. But Liverpool's £446m summer investment has not yet paid off on the pitch, raising questions around the transfer strategy at the start of the season.
Edwards, who was previously Liverpool Sporting Director before leaving the club and subsequently returning as Chief Executive, was brought in with a remit to help grow Fenway Sports Group's (FSG) multi-club ownership model.
But that project has now been completely shelved, leaving Edwards to contemplate what comes next.
Whether Edwards or Hughes departs for the Saudi Pro League this summer remains to be seen, but with Salah's exit already confirmed, Liverpool look set to face more big changes in the summer.
