Mohamed Salah has become a leading contender for a switch to Saudi Arabia, according to bookmakers, following confirmation he will be departing Liverpool. The Egyptian winger revealed his exit in a statement on Tuesday evening, concluding his remarkable nine-year tenure at Anfield.
It has subsequently emerged that Salah and Liverpool have reached an agreement for him to depart on a free transfer this summer. Whilst the club will not collect a transfer fee, they will make savings on his reportedly £400,000-a-week salary.
Conjecture is already building regarding Salah's next club. Nevertheless, his representative, Ramy Abbas, has made clear that no arrangement has been finalised with any side at this point. Taking to social media, Abbas posted: "We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows."
It will undoubtedly trigger considerable movement in the odds market as Mo Salah becomes the most sought-after signing in the summer transfer window for any elite club available.
William Hill's Lee Phelps commented: "Mohamed Salah's decision to announce his Liverpool exit before the season ends has immediately shifted focus onto his next move, and from our point of view, a switch to Saudi Arabia is very much the likeliest outcome at even-money.
"MLS is the main overseas alternative at 3/1, whilst Newcastle are seen as the most likely Premier League landing spot at 16/1, but given the strength of Saudi interest in recent years, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him competing in the Saudi Pro League next season."
"A host of European destinations are also on the cards, such as PSG and Barcelona, but they're considered outside chances at 12/1, followed by Turkish giants Galatasaray (16/1) and Salah's former club Roma (16/1)."
Salah has been heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia previously and was the target of a £105 million offer from Al Ittihad in 2023, which Liverpool turned down. Salah remained at the club and was instrumental in their 2025 Premier League title success.
In light of the latest developments, the bookmakers now list a move to any Saudi Pro League club as the most probable outcome for Salah, with odds of 13/10. A switch to Major League Soccer in the United States is the second most likely possibility, with odds of 15/8.
