Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is already attracting interest from potential suitors less than 24 hours after confirming his intention to depart Anfield this summer.
The 'Egyptian King' has been persistently linked with a switch to the Saudi Premier League in recent years, and that speculation has only intensified following the player's announcement.
The Reds issued their own statement last night acknowledging Salah's decision, with the likes of Al-Hilal reportedly eager to secure the 33-year-old's signature. However, WinWin suggests the Saudi Arabian outfit are encountering financial difficulties due to the club's substantial current wage bill.
Karim Benzema, Darwin Nunez, Reuben Neves, Theo Hernandez and Yassine Bounou are among the high-profile players on their books, with Salah emerging as their next priority signing.
Nevertheless, they're not the only club pursuing the departing Liverpool winger, nor are they alone in facing potential hurdles.
Spanish publication AS reports there are already several top-tier sides monitoring a potential deal for the Egyptian forward, with Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan having demonstrated interest in recent years.
They suggest neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid would pursue a transfer for Salah, though Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid could be enticed if an agreement on contract terms could be reached.
The Spanish club have previously recruited players such as David Villa and Luis Suarez after Barcelona considered them beyond their prime. While the report acknowledges ongoing speculation regarding the Saudi Arabian Premier League, they also suggest a potential transfer to the MLS could be a possibility.
However, they report that Egyptian-owned San Diego FC would be eager to sign Salah, though would need to offload Hirving Lozano's $6million annual wages.
In a video posted on his social media channels, Salah said: "Hello everyone, unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
"I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it's a passion, it's a history, it's a spirit. I can't explain in words to anyone not part of this club.
"We celebrated victory, we won the most important trophies and we fought together through the hardest time in our life. I want to thank everyone who was part of this club throughout my time here, especially the teammates past and present.
"And to the fans, I don't have enough words. The support you showed me through the best time of my career and you stood by me in the toughest times. It's something I will never forget and something I will take with me always.
"Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family.
"Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone."
