Mohamed Salah's departure from Liverpool after nine years will leave a hole in their frontline that needs to be addressed during this summer's transfer window. He has not reached the heights of previous seasons this term, but he still scored 10 goals and assisted another 9 in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Salah, 33, has rarely sustained injuries until a recent muscle injury, allowing the forward to remain almost ever-present in attack over his nine years since signing from Roma. That meant that alternatives at the club scarcely got an opportunity to deputise for the team's talisman.
As a result, replacements will have to be considered this summer. The ECHO have highlighted 11 potential successors to Liverpool's number 11.
Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and Fanatics has cut the price of this season's kits with 'M. Salah 11' printing.
Paris Saint-Germain is the best place to start, with three possible replacements currently playing their trade in the French capital. The Reds have been linked with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia since the Georgian winger broke through at Napoli.
Already having Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele up front, did not deter PSG from signing the Serie A star. And it paid off, too, as they went on to win the Champions League last season.
However, it remains a possibility that one or more of them will agitate for a month this summer if they no longer want to share the spotlight.
The same could be true for Michael Olise, who has Harry Kane and Luis Diaz for company at Bayern Munich. Two years after leaving Crystal Palace, the Reds could tempt the London-born France international back to the Premier League.
Karim Adeyemi is another Bundesliga player always linked with a move to England. Still just 24, the Germany international is a versatile forward who could also deputise up front just like Salah has over the years
However, the standout star in Germany this season is Yan Diomande. The forward has scored 10 goals this season despite only turning 19 in November.
England and Nike have launched the new home, away and goalkeeper kits to be worn at this summer's FIFA World Cup. You can get free delivery on all orders with the code: ENGFREEDEL
The teenager also told BILD earlier this month that Liverpool are his father's favourite club, saying: "It was always his great wish to see me there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield."
Diomande says he has "a lot of respect for Liverpool" but said RB Leipzig are his "dream club right now". Another player who comes from a family of Liverpool fans is Anthony Gordon.
And with Newcastle United looking less likely than the Reds to qualify for the Champions League again next season, another opportunity to sign the England international could arise, much like two years ago.
Gordon's former Newcastle teammate Yankuba Minteh is another potential option from the Premier League. Arne Slot knows the Brighton & Hove Albion winger well from having him on loan at Feyenoord, and Minteh has shown signs of promise at just 21 years old.
Another name never far away from links to the Reds is Nico Williams. The winger signed a ten-year contract with Athletic Club last summer, but after an injury-affected season, reports in Spain claim Williams could welcome Premier League interest.
Rafael Leao could also be available this summer, with his contract with Milan having just two seasons left.
If no new deal comes over the coming months, the Italian club could be inclined to cash in on the Portugal international. One more player who may be available at a cut-price this summer is Mohammed Kudus.
Tottenham Hotspur's struggles since signing the Ghana international from West Ham United, regardless of whether they suffer relegation this season, could leave Kudus considering his options. Interest from the Reds dates back to his time at Ajax, so there could be a deal to do with Spurs.
